As I walked through the halls of the Picasso Museum in Barcelona I was fascinated by the change in style from more traditional, landscape themed fine art, to one of his most famous periods, the cubist period. This is where you start to notice that many of his paintings started to include African-looking masks and tribal themes, using human figures and shapes to portray power, spirit and emotion. African Masks are considered amongst the finest creations in the art world and are highly sought after by art collectors. Masking ceremonies in Africa have great cultural and traditional significance. Latest developments and understanding of Aesthetic principles, religious and ceremonial values, have brought about a greater insight into the ideas and moral values that African artists express in these masks.
Connect with this Totem and let it serve as a reminder and symbol of change, whether that means taking steps in a positive direction, or changing old habits to more positive ones. A midnight masquerade of the spirit and soul, let your self free and the let the light flow.
